HISTORY

Maryland Heights is located in St. Louis County, which was founded in 1812 and was named in honor of Saint Louis, the King of France. The City of Maryland Heights was officially incorporated in 1985 and Mark M. Levin was appointed as the first City Administrator. It was named after the State of Maryland.

ACCESSIBILITY

Commuting here is very easy, with convenient access to interstates 70 and 270 as well as Lindbergh Boulevard, Route 364, and Dorsett Road.  

CULTURE

In recent years the town has made more of an effort to bring art events and programming to the city. But there are also plenty of cultural events accessible within a quick drive from the town.

ENTERTAINMENT

Maryland Heights has become a hub of hospitality. With more than 20 hotels, and numerous dining and recreation, the neighborhood entertains residents and guests alike.

Prominent St. Louis attractions, like Westport Plaza, Harrah's Casino, and the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater are neighborhood crowd pleasers.

SCHOOLS

Award-Winning Public School Districts, Parkway and Pattonville, are both zoned in the Maryland Heights neighborhood. These districts expenditure per student is among the highest in the system.

PARKS & REC

Vago Community Park | This 20 acre park contains three playgrounds, including handicap accessible play structures, a sand volleyball court, five horse shoe pits, a beautiful gazebo, accessible bathrooms, a walking and jogging track, a fitness course, a lighted softball field, three pavilions, a multi purpose court with basketball goals, and several picnic sites with barbecue grills.

Eise Memorial Park | This park contains one pavilion seating approximately 25 people, a sand volleyball court, a playground, several picnic tables with barbecue grills, a walking path, a basketball slab, and accessible restrooms.

Quiet Hollow Park | Quiet Hollow is a small, passive park for those individuals who enjoy watching the sunset from the highest point in the city. A walking trail, park benches, and picnic table are the only components of this tiny park. No parking or bathroom facilities are available at Quiet Hollow.

Creve Coeur Skatepark | Creve Coeur Skatepark is a joint project between the City of Maryland Heights and St. Louis County Parks and Recreation Departments. The park is being developed in three phases. Phase I will be a concrete street course that will be approximately 30,000 square feet. Phase II will include an above ground street course designed for high-level competition, which will encompass about 40,000 square feet. The final Phase will be a large concrete bowl course.

 Maryland Heights Centre | The Centre offers meeting  and rental facilities, a fitness center, Sportport Soccer Complex, and Aquaport . The city's family aquatic center, Aquaport includes a lazy river, lap pool, wacky water kiddie pool, five slides, and leisure pool.
